The 2025 USATF 1 Mile Road Championships are set for Tuesday, April 22, in Downtown Des Moines, Iowa. This event is part of the Grand Blue Mile, presented by Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and is integrated into the Drake Relays festivities. The championships will take place on a USATF-certified course along Grand Avenue, with the women’s race starting at 7:15 p.m. CT and the men’s race at 7:30 p.m. CT.
LIVE STREAMING:
The event will be broadcast live on Mediacom’s MC22 channel and streamed online via USATF.tv, starting at 7:00 p.m. CT. The broadcast will feature commentary from Tom Feuer, analysis by Kate Van Buskirk, and course reporting by Michael Admire.
The women’s field features prominent runners such as Karissa Schweizer and Shelby Houlihan, both Iowa natives and former Olympians. Defending champion Rachel McArthur is also set to compete, aiming to retain her title after winning in 2024 with a personal best of 4:32.20.
Prize Purse: A minimum of $50,000, with $10,000 awarded to each winner. Additional bonuses are available for American and World Records.
